Comeauville

Comeauville

Almost equidistant between Yarmouth and Digby, this village was first called Clare, but later renamed for early settlers, the Comeau family, the dominant family name in the area.

François (Maza) Comeau and Jean-Baptiste Comeau each owned large amounts of land in this area. The Comeau Brook flowing between Saulnierville and Comeauville is the site of Clare’s first sawmill and wheat (flour) mill.

Today the village is a hub of Acadian culture with the headquarters of the local radio station Radio CIFA 104.1 FM, Festival acadien de Clare and Société acadienne de Clare. Comeauville also boasts a 18-hole golf course & country club.
