St. Bernard

St. Bernard

This village takes its name from the patron saint of its parish.

Home to St. Bernard Church, a majestic stone edifice near the northern gateway to the French Shore. Work on the cathedral-like structure began in 1910 by Rev. Édouard LeBlanc and continued during 32 years. It was built using Shelburne granite, each piece brought approximately 200 km by train and oxen cart.

The church has a seating capacity of around 1000 persons and is the home of the Expo d’Art exhibition each summer.
