Salmon River

Salmon River

Named after the Aboriginal name Pulamoka seboo (salmon river).

Jacques Deveau and his wife Madeleine Robicheau were the first Acadians settlers in this area in 1785-86.

Home to one of Clare’s four main rivers that are fed by small lakes and other minor rivers, Salmon River like many others, ends its journey in marshlands that become submerged by the rising of the ocean tide.
