Beaver River

Located at the Yarmouth - Digby County line, this village marks the southern end of Clare.

Aboriginal peoples called the place Wezek, meaning ‘home of the beaver’, coined for the river named after the many beavers found here.

Lemuel Bartlett of Plymouth, Maine, first settled here in 1799. The first Acadian to own land was Jean Deveau in 1801.
