Corberrie

Corberrie

The first settlers were Mathurin McCollough and Germain Corporon who arrived in 1829.

The village owes it name to Father Sigogne, who was the parish priest of St. Mary’s Bay when the first settlers moved on the land granted to them. Sigogne’s hometown in France was called “Corberi”. Some also say the village was named after a laughing crow (corbeau rit) that was spotted by the first Acadian families who had arrived in the area.

Wentworth Lake Municipal Park along Route 340 features walking trails, nature interpretation stations and picnic areas. A cider company has been recently established in Corberrie.
